Hall of Fame 2009
HCEF and Harvard High School announce 2009 Hall of Fame Inductees
Five Harvard High School Alumni were named as 2009 Hall of Fame inductees. The five inductees will make up the inaugural class of the new Harvard High School Hall of Fame.
The 2009 Inductees are:
Karen Brook ’95,
Neil Schultz ’75,
Dr. Penelope (LeFew) Blake ’75,
Bill Magnuson ’51,
Margaret (Pihl) Kistler ‘33
"We are thrilled to be doing this in conjunction with the High School," said HCEF President Linnea Kooistra. "The Hall of Fame was developed to recognize Harvard graduates who have achieved notable success in their lives and to motivate and inspire current and future students by showing them what former HHS graduates have achieved."
Inductees will be asked to participate in a special program at the High School on Friday, November 13
The committee received 11 nominations. Criteria used to select inductees include high achievement in cultural endeavors; success in a trade, business or industry; unusual contributions through good works and/or charitable beneficence; excellence in service to a recognized profession; and prowess in a professional or amateur sport.
Inductees will be presented with their plaques and will have the opportunity to address students regarding their motivations and accomplishments. Inductees will visit classrooms and have an opportunity to interact with students. Each inductee will also receive two tickets to the 2009 Black & Gold Ball to be held the next evening. The inductees will also be honored during a brief ceremony at the Ball.
